The White Hart - oldest pub in Edinburgh. Scottish King David 1b, against the advice of his priest, set out hunting on the Feast Day of Holy Rood. He gave chase to a huge, white stag but was thrown from his horse.

The maddened stage immediately turned on its pursuer, and King David frantically began praying. The story goes that a fiery cross appeared between the stag’s antlers before it vanished.
