This cache would be much higher if used as a cache. The large round skin in the upper left was a beaver. The skins hanging from platform are wolf and fox. The others hanging on the wall are ermine, mink, and otter.

Clever girl said the ermine was a "Texas" polar bear!!!!! The entire crew of the village and the stern wheeler are from Alaska.

Notice the cuts the sped the drying process. After being dried, the salmon was light making it a good choice for jouneys for both man and sled dog.

When animal killed, the hide was scraped and dried and the results were very stiff. The hide was tanned and processed to make it soft, then sewn into garments. In the early days sinew was used for thread and needles were crafted from bone. Buttons are fashioned from moose and caribou antlers.
